Bel Air, MD – June 16, 2025 – Grace Assembly of God and the Sons of Thunder Softball Team are thrilled to announce the success of our Home Run Derby, held June 14th, which raised $12,000 for Adult & Teen Challenge Baltimore, supporting its mission to help individuals recover from addiction and rebuild their lives.

Event Highlights & Community Impact

Teams competed to support a great cause, and thanks to an enthusiastic crowd—including families, friends, and local businesses—we exceeded our fundraising goal. Fun-filled activities such as bounce houses, concessions, T-shirts, and community fellowship made the event a day to remember.

June 14th, the Grace Assembly of God Sons of Thunder Softball Team will be hosting their 1st first ever Home Run Derby, as a fundraiser to benefit adult and teen challenge Baltimore. Adult and Teen Challenge introduces the Christian World View to people who are battling addiction and going through recovery. Here at Grace, we believe in the work that Adult and Teen Challenge is doing because we believe that Jesus Christ changes lives.

It doesn’t matter whether you hit dingers or singles, this is a cumulative scoring event, so there are opportunities for everyone to win

Rules of Play

A Team will consist of 4 hitters and a pitcher

 
Each hitter will get 15 swings
  • If the ball lands in the infield, it is worth 10 points
  • If the ball lands in the outfield grass, it is worth 25 points
  • If the ball hits the home run fence in air, it is worth 50 points
  • If the ball clears the fence in the air, it is worth 100 points
  • The moneyball is the 15th hit, and it is worth double the point value of where the ball lands.
  • Special Targets will be worth 40 points. 
Second Chance Swings:
Each hitter can purchase 5 second chance swings for $20. If you would like to purchase second chance swings, we will accept cash at the event. 
 

The team with the highest point total will win the event.

Register For The Derby IN TWO STEPS

STEP 1: Complete the form below to lock in your time spot.  Each team will include 4 hitters and one pitcher.  Individuals that register can bring their own pitcher or one will be provided for them.

STEP 2: After registration, you will be directed to a secure platform to collect payments. You will need to create an account and complete your payment submission to lock in your timeslot.
